Proposition 65

What is Prop 65?

Known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, Proposition 65 (Prop 65), requires businesses to inform consumers about exposure to specific chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. The State of California is required to publish and update the list of chemicals annually - a list that includes approximately 934 (https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65/chemicals) chemicals since 1987. The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) administers the Proposition 65 program. OEHHA, which is part of the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA), also evaluates all currently available scientific information on substances considered for placement on the Proposition 65 list. More information can be found at https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65/general-info/proposition-65-plain-language.

Are Oxygenics shower heads and washers Prop 65 compliant?

Oxygenics is Prop 65 compliant by providing warning labels on our packaging to inform consumers that the product may contain chemicals on the State of California’s Prop 65 list. Though the warning is stated on our packaging, it does not mean that the product is unsafe or will cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. We are confident that there are no health risks associated with the installation, use, or removal of our products. By providing the label, it ensures that Oxygenics is in compliance with the State of California’s Proposition 65 law requirements. Why is the Prop 65 warning on my product if I don't live in California?

Oxygenics products are sold nationwide and in Canada, so it would be difficult to determine which products will be shipped to California retail locations. To ensure compliance, Oxygenics includes the Prop 65 warning label on all products regardless of where the product is purchased or sold.

Which Oxygenics products have the Prop 65 warning label?

All Oxygenics products have the Prop 65 warning label on the package to ensure compliance, even if the product does not contain the chemicals stated in the Prop 65 list. We remain confident that there are no health risks associated with our products, nor are they deemed unsafe.
